The old tom blinked open his eyes to dawn light. As he shifted in the mossy nest of the Medicine Cat den, his bones and joints ached with protest. His lungs made a terrible wheezing sound as he heaved with effort. Such an old body, such haunting memories; only one thing really brought the old cat joy. Each day he would wake, painfully achy no matter how dry his nest was, and would go to the back of his herbs store to sort out his supplies. Over and over again he would sort; by color, by smell, by use, by name. It didn't really matter, so long as he could keep his mind preoccupied from the aches and sharp pains of his body, and the caustic thoughts of the past.

Twilightclan: Dark Uprising Pg 4
If ever there was a day for the sun to stop moving, Ivorypaw thought today would be the worst. He tried hard to keep his mind off the time, to try and busy himself with training or den cleaning; but nothing worked. His mind buzzed with what tests awaited him later in the day and even Blackclaw's belligerent nagging couldn't distract him.

Twilightclan: Dark Uprising Pg. 3
"Alright, Ivorypaw. Now you try." Ivorypaw flicked droplets of blood of his ear, one of the wounds Blackclaw had inflicted while showing his Apprentice an ancient move from the old clans; the Lightning Strike. He had said the move was unwell known, and not everyone in Twilightclan knew it. Only those good enough.

Twilightclan: Dark Uprising Pg. 2
Ivorypaw shut his eyes tightly as he felt a jab in his left side. He curled into a ball, refusing to let in the dawn light that would awake him. Blackclaw's scent caught his nose, and he couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine. We trained all night. Surely he'll let me sleep in. The warmth Whisperpaw had granted last night was gone, Ivorypaw realized she must already be out with Casey.
"Ivorypaw! Wake up, we have lots of training to do." Blackclaw's growl sounded in the young tom's ear.

Twilightclan: Dark Uprising pg. 1
Ivorykit growled as his mother's tongue ruffled up the spiky fur atop his head, smoothing it down for a second before it popped right back up.
"Oh, my poor little tom. This tuft here just wont stay down!" Nightpelt fretted, licking him so hastily that the broad shouldered tom fell over.
"Mom! Cut it out, I look fine." He shoved her away, leaping out of the den and racing to the fresh-kill pile. He looked around the camp, seeing the huge split boulder with its smooth silver top. Ivorykit had learned that it was the Leader's den and more than anything he wanted to take a look inside. As the dark brown tabby crept toward the massive cave, there was a tug on his tail.

Twilightclan: Dark Uprising-Prologue
"The battle is soon Twilightclan! We will show those burrow loving fox-hearts who is strongest! Caveclan will fall!"
Weaselstar's yowl rang in Ivorypaw's ears making his fur stand on end. Excitement coursed through him and thoughts of battle raced through his head. Everything he had ever learned about fighitng, and how to win. The dark tabby tom leaned forward to see his leader, surrounded by cats, and strained to hear what the dark brown tom was saying but pain shot through his body.
"You mustn't move! Ivorypaw your not going to heal if you don't lie there and stop ripping your bandages." Mitetail's irritated meow sounded from the back of the den. The white and gray tom was striping some dark green leaves of their stalks. Ivorypaw spat with irritation.
"I have to be at that battle. Weaselstar needs me!"
"Your too hurt from the last battle....and you wont sit still long enough for me to heal you!"
"Can't you heal me faster? I need to be there, please Mitetail! I want to be a Warrior, I've been in here for days!" Ivorypaw looked at the Medicine cat, his green eyes pleading. The gray and white tom paused for a moment then sighed heavily. He walked to the back of the den, vanished for a while, then returned with an assortment of herbs.
"There is one poultice that would heal you much quicker....you would be able to go to the battle with Weaselstar......"
Ivorypaw felt excitement prickle through him. "Yes! Make it then, I'll-" Mitetail stopped him with a raised paw, his dark blue eyes flashing with severity.
"The poultice comes at a price....its not something to take lightly-"
Ivorypaw felt irritation sear through him. He raised himself to his paws and hissed. "I don't care, I want to show Weaselstar I'll be a great Warrior! Just heal me, and I promise no more battles. Just this one!" Mitetail stared at the young tom for such a long time Ivorypaw began to feel self-concious. Then finally the old Medicine Cat began mixing the herbs, nodding his head slowly.
Ivorypaw sat down, feeling winded. He was really beaten up, but he would do anything to prove to Weaselstar he was a great Warrior. I'm destined to be leader one day. Nothing will stop me!
